I have managed to finish Beck today. I am really pleased with how he has turned out against the orange background. I think he looks somewhat regal!
My next challenge with this portrait is packaging it up for it’s journey to America! Exciting to have my work going overseas. I have sent portraits all the way to Australia before.
I will sandwich it between lots of sturdy cardboard and seal it cellophane to protect the painting.
Here is a close up of his medal. You couldn’t really read it in the photo so my client sent me a seperate photo to help me work out the wording. It was definitely the trickiest part of the portrait. Below is a close up of the detail.
After looking with fresh eyes I decided the ribbon needed a little shading as it was looking flat. Here hopefully you can see where I have added it. Now I think I am completely happy with Beck’s pet portrait!
Tomorrow my husband is delivering my latest order for cards to Made In Kent, in Gravesend. I will be packing Beck up and I need to work out how I am going to add the heather around Sunny’s portrait. I have been mulling it over and looking at other photos to give me an idea and I think I know where I am going with it now. Hopefully I will be able to update you tomorrow.
