Wilma the Bernese Mountain Dog was a delight to paint. This dog portrait was commissioned by his owner as a birthday gift for his wife.

Her gorgeous face engages you throughout the pet portrait process and I couldn’t wait to get back to the easel each time I left him. I particularly love painting long-haired dog portraits where the challenge is to bring out the detail which defines the pet’s individual character. This time I recommended a dark brown frame to highlight the different brown colours in his thick coat.

The owner is delighted with the finished commission and Wilma is now packed up and off to the Post Office for her short journey to Essex and will arrive tomorrow morning.

My next dog portrait is a stunning black Labrador which I’ll post here in the next couple of days.

Hi Sarah,

Sorry I’ve not messaged you just been so busy playing catch up at work.

Just wanted to say thank you so so much for the picture of Wilma.

There are no words to say how pleased I am with it.

You are amazing and I have recommended you so many times already. Will be in touch soon for another one.

Thanks again

Donna
