I managed to take a better photo of Sunny’s portrait and I am waiting to hear back from my client. Hopefully I will get the OK to sign and post him this week. He is not being framed as my client wants to get a frame to match another dog portrait he had done a while back by another artist.
I am really pleased with the heather and the whole set of colours in this portrait. They seem to work together really well and give it a lovely soft feel. Sunny was a beautiful dog to paint. Hopefully I will get to see him once he has been framed and is hanging in his forever home. The portrait measures 10×12 inches which is one of my most popular sizes.
I also worked on Bruno’s pen and watercolour portrait today. Such a cute wee terrier cross.
Below you can see the pen sketch before the watercolour was added. Sorry about the bad photo it was miserable outside and I took it under my lamp creating the shadow.
Here you can see where I have added the watercolour to painting. It was quite a paintstaking process with all the tiny hairs and colours. I just loved painting his sweet little face. I now just have to wait to here back from my client now.
If you are interested in commissioning a pen and watercolour pet portrait they start from £80 for A4 mounted and make a lovely gift to anyone for their birthday or Christmas, although Christmas slots are going fast!
Tomorrw I will be framing Barney the boxers portrait and a Lawsey print to go off to Made In Kent. I shall also be prepping a canvas for a big watercolour painting commission.
