It’s definitely all about the birthdays in March as it is my son’s 9th birthday tomorrow. I can’t believe I have one more year of my baby being in single figures. I am really not ready for this I can tell you! It goes so quickly it’s frightening. I am so looking forward to the birthday celebrations with him tomorrow though and I suspect it will be a very early start haha!
I went nordic walking today, we had a new route today around Bough Beech which was lovely, so nice to explore some new footpaths, although we did some old ones too. It has turned into a bit of a joke regarding the leggings and I had to wear my new brightest pair by Sturdy By Design. They are crazy bright and absolutely stunning. Got lots of compliments about them! You certainly can’t miss me which has got to be an advantage if I am walk leader!
Well apparently we are in for some stormy weather over the next few days, so if I disappear for a while it means I have had a power cut! I hope not as I can’t work, obviously with out power, so please keep your fingers crossed, and also for all of you around the country , please stay safe. I am a bit of a weather geek and would love to learn the charts and how to forecast. I don’t have time to do much, but I follow I few groups and they have predicted this for a while. Hopefully I am learning a bit too. I feel we are lucky we live in the country where we have such varied weather. It makes it much more interesting. Let’s face it living in California has to be pretty predicatable compared to living in the UK.
Back to the pet portraits, I will be posting Queenie today and here is Murray, keeping my large horse portrait warm while I wait for delivery details!
Today work wise has been a little up and down. If I am perfectly honest I haven’t been feeling 100 percent. I think I am just worn out so I have taken myself to bed. Sometime you just have to listen to your body despite wanting to crack on. I know I will feel better for it tomorrow and as a result be more focused.
Here is a photo that amused me today, Murray keeping my double horse portrait warm! He loves sleeping on anything square or rectangular I put on the work top! He makes me laugh. That and a good old card board box. What does your cat like to sleep on?
In other news, I think Leo had a good birthday today. Finally 9. I can’t believe he is 9. Where does the time go? You hear people say it all the time when you are younger, but until you get a bit older you take it with a pinch of salt.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day starting with a post office run to set the dou le horse portrait on its way and then I really need to get cracking with some of the commissions. I will be doing some watercolour ones very soon which I am very excited to get back to doing.
Well it’s been a crazy day today lot’s of stresses I won’t bore you with, but I have 3 non of which are solved, but as they say, they come in three’s so I hope that is my lot. Tomorrow I am babysitting in the afternoon for a couple of hours, can’t wait. I have my friends baby for a while so she can study. The gorgeous little girl I saw come into the world. I have to say it has been a long time since I have been in charge of a little baby, I mean mine are 9 and 12 now! Too grown up with all the attitude now!
Back to the pet portrait news, I have made a good start on Ronnie and Lola’s portrait and I will be update their blog. I have put most of the finishing touches on Maisy and Molly and got the scanned in. So despite my stresses it still has been a productive day!
I am sorry I haven’t been posting much since this week, it’s been a stressful few days and I have been slightly preoccupied with. Some work related, some personal, however, hopefully most of it bar one thing which I will know more about on Monday hopefully. I haven’t really done much work today, the stresses of the week and a really bad nights sleep has meant it hasn’t been the most constructive day, but you can’t win them all. I am packing up Maisy’s portrait ready to be posted Monday and I am waiting to here about Molly’s portrait and whether my client is happy for me to frame.
I also managed to paint this really cute rabbit watercolour portrait. Daisy is her name and my client wanted her for her daughter as she lost her recently. So sad and I was delighted to be able to help the little girl. I need to get a scan, meant to do it today, but I will have to do it tomorrow now.
Here is a little phone snap of her though.
As well as doing all the above I have sketched out a new portrait, a german short haired pointer named Bella. I have a lovely photo to work from, she is standing on the beach. Come tomorrow she we will be prepped on the paper ready for me to start work. I am really looking forward to her portrait. Look out for the blog post.
Tomorrow is a new week, and boy I am looking forward to it, providing it is kinder to me than this week hahaha. I have just about got over the disaster that was the England v Scotland game yesterday, but I take my hats off to Scotland, they played a blinder in the second half and England went to sleep. However the England Ladies team won the slam, just leave it to the women eh!
I have worked more on Lola and Ronnie, but I will get a photo tomorrow and I have sketched out Bella’s portrait. I can’t wait to get started on this beautiful pointer standing in front of an out of focus seascape, this is going to be a lot of fun to paint!
Off Nordic Walking first thing to de-stress and if I get time I am going to resurrect my old website Sarah Leigh Fine Art. I want to do some work on that and see if I can bump it up the rankings for my wildlife and pet portrait side of things. I like a challenge and this should be fun. I would also like to add a shop to it when it/if it does climb google. It will be a good and fun learning process. I may bog about it on there too, so I will share the link and you can see what its going on that website too.
